Hi,

My grandson has PDD-NOS and has a language delay. He is 7 years old and in 2nd grade. This is our first year that he's in homeschooled. I am doing the homeschooling while his Mom works. We have always lived together, so that is a plus. I have been very involved in his care and have been working on his language problems since he's been about 2 years old. He had the benefit of speech therapy for 4 months about 3 years ago. I learned a bunch of stuff from the therapist. I also am a pediatric rehabilitation RN, not presently working, due to a severe back problem, but I can do homeschooling, as it doesn't require a lot of physical work. In my career, I worked with my patients at home and did a lot of reinforcing their speech/language and other therapies. So as you can see, I have a little background and experience in this area. I did love my work and I do love to homeschool my grandson. We are doing a lot of interesting language arts stuff and I incorporate what i know into it. One site I use that I like very much is the ASHA site: http://www.asha.org/default.htm If you take the time you can find good information in it. It is mostly for professionals, but I find it helpful. I don't know what kind of speech and or language delay your son has, so it would be helpful to know. You can personal message me if you wish.
